Gurugram is set to witness a transformative urban development with the launch of the Global City project, a INR 1 lakh crore initiative aimed at redefining the city’s landscape. Spanning over 1,000 acres, this mixed-use development is strategically located along the Dwarka Expressway, positioning itself as a future hub for residential, commercial, and institutional activities.
The first phase of the project covers 587 acres, with an investment of INR 940 crore, and is scheduled for completion by the end of next year. This phase focuses on establishing essential infrastructure, including 13 km of internal roads, a 26 km stormwater drainage system, and a 10.7 km utility tunnel designed to house water pipelines, electrical cables, and other critical services. Additionally, an 18-acre reservoir with a capacity of 350 million litres is planned to ensure a reliable water supply, providing a seven-day backup for the city.
Global City is envisioned as a self-sustaining urban ecosystem, incorporating a balanced mix of land uses: 56% commercial, 40% residential, and the remainder allocated for institutional and utility purposes. The development will feature commercial towers, residential complexes, educational institutions, healthcare facilities, and recreational spaces, all designed to international standards.
The project’s location offers excellent connectivity, being just 30 minutes from Delhi International Airport, 20 minutes from the railway station, and 10 minutes from a proposed helipad and multimodal transit hub. Direct links to the Delhi-Jaipur Expressway and the city’s peripheral roads will further enhance accessibility, making it a prime location for businesses and residents alike.
The project has garnered interest from major real estate players, including DLF, Adani, and Lodha Group, who have expressed enthusiasm about participating in this landmark development. Their involvement is expected to bring in significant investments and contribute to the city’s economic growth.
Emphasizing sustainability, Global City plans to incorporate green zones, including a 6 km green corridor with artificial lakes, to promote environmental well-being. The city will also feature a Light Rapid Transit system with six stations, dedicated EV bus routes, pedestrian pathways, and cycle tracks, ensuring efficient and eco-friendly transportation options.
Upon completion, Global City is expected to benefit approximately 1.6 million people and generate around 500,000 employment opportunities. By attracting Fortune 500 companies and fostering innovation, the project aims to position Gurugram as a leading destination for investment and economic activity.
With its comprehensive planning, strategic location, and commitment to sustainability, Global City represents a significant step forward in Gurugram’s urban development, promising to enhance the city’s stature on both national and international fronts.
